Under Pressure

Filed under: 3d items, samples — Chris Gontarz @ 11:00 am

I’ve come to the realization after many years that sometimes most times I work better under pressure. Today was a perfect example. Took my DD to the doctor. She has a wicked case of poison ivy that has gone to her face. It’s not the skin, itchy-type of poison ivy, it’s the internal reaction kind. She looks as if we haven’t washed the Kool Aid off her face for a week. Of course this requires medication. We go to the grocery store to fill the prescription. There’s a small crisis at the pharmacy counter and our prescription takes about a 1/2 hour longer than expected. We do a little shopping ($50 worth, not too bad for not needing anything). I think they do this on purpose. We leave 45 minutes later with a prescription for steroids… all the while I’m thinking that my daughter is going to have a mustache before Christmas because of the steroids. She’s only ten… I haven’t even shown her how to shave her legs yet. Now, I might have to have my husband show her how to shave a 5 o’clock shadow.

I decide to treat her (and me) to a little more breakfast before heading to school. Burger King was right next door (oh, how I love BK). She wants McDonalds. Since she does have poison ivy and all, we head to McDonalds. We turn the corner to enter the McDonalds parking lot and the whole building is gone. Just gone! Now, I start doubting myself. “Wasn’t there a McDonalds there just a few weeks ago?” “Am I dreaming?” Did I go to the wrong place?” A quick “U-ey” and we’re headed back to Burger King. Yippee for me!!! Oh, how I love those breakfast croissants. Cheese??? Yes!!! Sausage??? Yes!!! Egg??? Yes!!! Oh, and now they even have these little hash browns with cheese in them. I have died and gone to Heaven. We get our food stuffies and head to school.

Drop DD off at school and head home. I’ve got to get a birthday gift for one of the neighbor boys around the corner. I’ll go out a little later to pick up something. Of course I put it off and begin the many tasks of the day… dishes, laundry, school paperwork, etc. Next thing I know, the bus is pulling up at the corner. Oh no! No gift, no card, and no absolutely clever packaging idea for the gift I didn’t get. What to do??!! Quick… think! I’ve got it! The day before, he had gotten a new digital camera. So, I packaged up 10 AA batteries and a box of photo paper. Made a quick card and had it delivered before everyone left for ball practices and games. Plus, had dinner cooked and ready by 5:15. I haven’t thought of anything too original during the past few weeks. I felt so vindicated! I can still stamp. I can be creative. I just need 15 minutes and the sinking feeling of guilt to get things done! Phew!!! I had succeeded!!! And, the gift wasn’t days late!!! His mom was “amazed how cleverly I packaged the gift.” Pat on the back for me!!! My only concern was if I had washed out all the oranges from the container.

Here’s a pic of the gift package minus the photo paper. Pretty self-explanatory, but let me know if you have questions.quick bday package

  1. What a clever set – and she is right – the packaging is great!!! And which McD’s is gone? Not that we don’t have enough of them….

    Hope Victoria is feeling better.
